SLP girls lax top OFA, 9-8

The Saranac Lake Placid girls lacrosse team defeated the Ogdensburg Free Academy Blue Devils 9-8 on the road Friday.

It was the SLP’s second game of the season, and its second victory. The team topped Massena 17-5 on March 31.

SLP scored the first goal of the contest, then fell behind, trailing OFA until the fourth quarter. Kelsi Burth scored with less than 5 minutes left to tie the game at 8-8, before Emma Clark scored the go-ahead goal with under 2 minutes to play.

Clark and Juliana Tremblay scored three goals each for SLP, while Burth, Lizzie Harvey and Wren Crsit each scored once. Tyler Burth added two assists, and Harvey, Kelsi Burth and Ireland Cassidy had one assist.

OFA played very aggressive and had strong goalie play from freshman Quinn Duprey. SLP’s Maddy Clark also played well in net, recording seven saves. SLP stayed composed and played hard in the second half with players stepping up on both defense and offense to come away with the win.

Up next, SLP will have back-to-back away contests against Malone today, and against Canton on Wednesday.

Starting at $4.75/week.
