SARANAC LAKE — If you have a passion for youth sports, or just want to get involved in an organization that is working to support the kids of our community, the Saranac Lake Youth Baseball and Softball Association would love to hear from you.
SLYBSA will host its annual organizational meeting on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Hodson Hall board room at North Country Community College. This meeting will serve as the starting point for the 2025 season. Topics on the agenda include registration, uniforms, equipment needs, coaching assignments and more. The league will also hold its annual election of board officers.
This year, SLYBSA is looking for volunteers to serve as coaches, particularly for T-ball and Rookie-level players, as well as its volunteer field maintenance crew. The league is also seeking umpires, who are paid, for the upcoming season.
Looking to the future, SLYBSA currently has several board members whose kids will be aging out of the program soon.
”We are looking for help to keep our organization running strong,” SLYBSA President Chris Knight said. ”You don’t need to be familiar with baseball or softball to get involved. Are you good at organizing events? Do you have background in finance or bookkeeping? Experience running a website? Come to the meeting and find out how you can help.”
