SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Pool League concluded last week with MC Motors winning the best-of-five series championship 3-0 over Romanos.

MC Motors won the first match 11-8, the second 11-5 and the third in a nail biting finish 11-10 to earn their second consecutive league championship title.

Romanos had a great season as well, finishing the regular season in first place, while securing a bye in the first round of playoffs. They won the second round of the playoffs 2-0 in a best-of-three series against the Vets Club to secure their spot in the finals.

MC Motors finished third in the regular season, but went undefeated in the playoffs, beating the Moose Club in the first round (2-0) and defeating Rusty Nail B in the second round (2-0).

The finals between Romanos and MC Motors was very competitive, with the third match tied at 10-10 (hill/hill, in billiard terms), with the winner of the final game winning the night. MC Motors squeaked out a victory, with the game coming down to nothing but the 8 ball left on the table.

“The team really came together and make some great shots when it counted the most,” MC Motors team captain Don Martin said. “We played smart and made good decisions at the table, which is important when you play against a great team like Romano’s”.

This year, there were more than 50 people playing in the league, with a 15 week season.

Next season will kick off in September. Those interested in participating can email saranaclakepoolleague@gmail.com
