Knights edge out Bomber girls hoops
LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid girls basketball team suffered a 38-34 overtime loss to the Seton Catholic Knights at home on Thursday.
The Blue Bombers got off to a hot start and jumped out to a 11-8 lead after the first quarter. However, the team was outscored in both the second and third quarter. Lake Placid used a strong fourth quarter to force overtime, but fell just short of the comeback victory.
The Blue Bombers’ Anisa Cecunjanin led all scorers with 18 points, while Abbey Light added seven. Lake Placid’s Margaret Thatcher for four points, Ellie Shipman had three and Ella Moodey recorded two.
Six players connected on a basket for Seton Catholic as Grace Trombley led the way with 15 points. The Knights improved to 9-5 overall.
The Blue Bombers, which fell to 4-10 overall, will take on Newcomb at 5:30 p.m. on the road Tuesday, before returning home at 6:30 p.m. Thursday to face Indian Lake/Long Lake.
