Blue Bomber boys hoopers fall to Crown Point

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid boys basketball team got off to a rocky opening half in Tuesday’s home game, and were unable to mount a comeback, falling 61-38 to the Crown Point Panthers.

The Panthers jumped out to a 24-5 lead in the first quarter, before extending their advantage to 42-9 at halftime. After the intermission, the Blue Bombers outscored its opponents 29-19.

Crown Point’s Trevor Harris, who broke the Section VII scoring record on Thursday, Dec. 19, record a team-high 30 points. Teammates Jared Kimball scored 11 points and Austyn Taylor had nine. The Panthers are now 4-6 overall on the season.

Seb Cecunjanin scored a game-high 34 points for the Blue Bombers, which included four 3-pointers. The senior guard’s efforts on Tuesday pushed his career point total to 845, making him 155 away from 1,000.

Hugh Kissel and Brendan Murphy scored two points each for Lake Placid.

The Blue Bombers, which dropped to 0-9, will host the Bolton Eagles at 6:30 p.m. today. Following that contest the team will host Indian Lake/Long Lake on Friday and Willsboro next Wednesday — both at 6:30 p.m.
