Bombers volleyball falls to Chateaugay
LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to the Chateaugay Bulldogs on Wednesday in the NYSPHSAA Class D subregional round at Massena High School.
The Blue Bombers lost by scores of 25-14, 25-4 and 25-14, ending their season with a 5-14 overall record. Meanwhile the Bulldogs advance to Class D regional round where they will take on Mekeel Christian Academy at Gloversville High School at 2 p.m. Saturday.
In her final varsity volleyball contest, Norah Galvin paced Lake Placid with 13 assists, 10 digs, four points, three aces and two kills.
Fellow senior Brooke Beaney recorded 10 digs, while Haileigh LaMare, also a senior, had five digs, three kills, two points and one ace.
The loss comes less than a week after the team claimed the Section VII, Class D title against the Northern Adirondack Bobcats. The title was the eighth all-time for the Blue Bombers and the fourth under head coach Sandy Huber, who plans to retire from coaching.
