Fancy skating takes part in Lake Placid
LAKE PLACID — The 10th annual World Figure and Fancy Skating Championships on black ice was held here from Oct. 9 to 13.
Shepherd Clark won his eighth consecutive world title with creative figure artwork followed by six-time world medalist Marc Fenczak and Canadian Bradley Hou. Jill Ahlbrecht won her third non-consecutive world title, followed by two-time world silver medalist Shannon Cattaneo, and five-time world medalist Sarah Jo Damron-Brown.
In the world junior ladies event, Sofia Fitzgerald captured the title. The event also included the first International Open at the World Figure and Fancy Skating Championships.
Elizabeth Fischer won the International open overall title, Amy Vecchio won additional International Open Figure Artwork Festival events and Andrew Moroney won the Inclusive skating event.
The 11th World Figure and Fancy Skating Championships on black ice will return to Lake Placid on Oct. 8 to 12, 2025.
