Red Storm win, Blue Bombers fall in volleyball

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake volleyball team completed their three-match sweep over the Northeastern Clinton Cougars at home Thursday evening. The Red Storm won by scores of 25-9, 25-11 and 25-3.

Saranac Lake, which improved to 3-1 overall, were paced by Emily Gay’s team-high 15 points and 12 aces. The squad also had a strong performance from Alice LaDue and Sophoe Czadzeck. LaDue has 11 points, five aces and three assists, while Czadzeck recorded 11 points, seven assists and six aces.

The Red Storm are slated to take on the Saranac Central Spartans at 6 p.m. today on the road.

Peru 3, Lake Placid 0

The Lake Placid volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to the Peru Nighthawks at home on Thursday. The Blue Bombers lost by scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 26-24.

Norah Galvin led Lake Placid with 14 points, eight assists, three aces, three digs and two kills. Fiona Sullivan chipped in with 10 points, four aces, one dig and one kill, while Brooke Beaney paced the team defensively with nine digs.

The Blue Bombers, which fell to 1-2 overall, will travel to AuSable Valley for a match at 6 p.m. today.
