Red Storm boys race to a pair of wins in XC
SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake boys cross country team picked up a pair of wins on Tuesday in a meet at the Cadyville Recreation Park. Meanwhile, the girls squad earned one win.
The Red Storm boys topped the Peru Nighthawks 25-30 and Northeastern Clinton Cougars 15-46 but fell to the Saranac Central Spartans 19-36. Saranac Lake’s girls squad beat the Cougars 18-38 but suffered losses to Peru (25-30) and Saranac Central (26-29).
Keaton Daley was the top Red Storm boys runner, placing seventh overall in 18 minutes, 46 seconds. Daley was followed by teammates Emmett VanBuskirk (19:04) in eighth; Alex Evans (19:14) in ninth; and Ebin Meissner (19:18) in 10th. Saranac Lake’s Liam Fletcher (19:26) placed 12th.
Saranac Central’s trio of Noah Thayer (17:59), Sean Dormann (18:04) and James Lynch (18:13) secured the top three spots, respectively.
The Red Storm’s Cadence Kennedy was her team’s top girls runner, earning fourth place in 22:08. Saranac Lake’s top five scorers were rounded out by Addi Ash (23:28) in seventh, Clementine Guenette (23:31) in eight, Lizzie Harvey (24:17) in 13th and Lila Zobel (24:24) in 15th.
The Spartans’ Sienna Boulds (20:03) was the overall winner, followed by Peru’s Maddy Welc (20:15) in second and Saranac Central’s Laura Denial (21:43) in third.
The Red Storm will hit the road for its next meet at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday for a meet against Plattsburgh and host AuSable Valley.
