LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid baseball team locked up its third consecutive Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference North division crown here on Wednesday evening with a 8-2 victory over the Crown Point Panthers.

Lake Placid was led by Vann Morrelli who tossed a complete game while striking out 10 Crown Point batters. He allowed just three hits and three walks. Crown Point’s Reese Pertak pitched six innings with six punchouts.

At the plate, Morrelli recorded a hit in all three of his at-bats. Teammates Jon Caito had two hits, while Ryan Curry had one hit in the team’s six-hit effort. Kayden Hurlbert had two hits for the Panthers.

The Blue Bombers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning before scoring one more run in the second. Crown Point added its first run in the third inning; however, Lake Placid responded with four runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to seal the victory.

Following the contest, the team was slated to take on the Ticonderoga Sentinels on Thursday in a non-league matchup on the road. Lake Placid will wrap up the regular season at 4:30 p.m. Monday at home against Boquet Valley.
