The Blue Bombers made quick work of it, jumping out to a 14-3 lead in the first half. The Beavers nearly mounted the comeback in the final two quarters, bringing the game within two points, but came up just shy.

“We made it more exciting than we needed to,” Lake Placid head coach Jeff Potter said.

With the win, the Blue Bombers improved its overall record to 2-9. Lake Placid collected its first win of the season with a 33-29 victory over the Johnsburg/Minerva Irish Jaguars on Monday.

“It’s still a work in progress, but it’s nice to have two wins back-to-back,” Potter said. “I told them we’re on a winning streak, not a win streak. It’s good to see them playing, and hopefully, we can continue to improve. We’ve got to cut down on unforced errors. There were too many mistakes there.”

Kyra Jordon had a solid outing for the Blue Bombers, recording a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Abbey Light had 10 points, while Danna Perez, who returned to the lineup after missing the past two games, added six points and eight rebounds. Margaret Thatcher earned six rebounds.

“It was nice to have Danna back and have a sixth (player),” Potter said.

After a low-scoring first quarter that saw Lake Placid take a 4-3 lead, Light and Perez led their team to a 10-0 second-quarter run. The Blue Bombers, which have just six players on their roster, came out of the break sluggish and allowed the Beavers to rally with a 10-6 run.

“With a short bench, they get tired as the game progresses. I think the biggest part is the mental fatigue. They can go for a half. We’ve just got to keep working and find that extra energy and mind power as we go into the later quarters.”

Keene got off to a hot start in the fourth quarter with a 7-4 run to bring the score within four points. After cutting the deficit to a two-point game, the Beavers were unable to even the contest.

Jules Tremblay paced Keene with nine points. Viv Smith added six points, Cam Nelson had five and Lianna Shambo chipped in with four. The Beavers fell to 3-5 overall.

Both squads will hit the road today, with Lake Placid taking on the Crown Point Panthers and Keene facing the Bolton Eagles. The two contests will start at 6:30 p.m.
