A sad day for America
To the editor:
Constantly repeating a lie doesn’t make it true. Treating people with respect is normal. The Trump and Vance show Friday was reminiscent of a WWE melee; of course, taking guidance from his cabinet might give us a clue, hmmm.
Growing up throughout my school years, we had safety drills where we were instructed to crawl under our desks to keep us safe from nuclear attacks. I’m not sure how much good that would have done but it certainly left an indelible mark on our little elementary school minds.
Speaking of elementary school, bullying was something most of us experienced. My dad always instilled in us that turning another cheek was preferred, but at some point, standing your ground was prudent. There was no magical bullet in determining that fine line but you’ll know when you know. That line has definitely been crossed by our wannabe dictator.
Since when are we accepting that our new bedfellows are Russia, North Korea, Iran, Belarus and China, to name a few? It’s time to say out loud that to make America great again, we should show others the respect we would want shown to ourselves.
Spitting in someone’s eye usually means you better turn your head or duck, lest you want a gobber in yours. Yo Elise, Marco and your fellow “republicans in name only,” it’s time to cross the line and tell the Don and J.D. show that it’s not alright to treat our allies with disdain. Of course, at this point, they probably have to ask the South African that is running the show if that is OK.
For the first time in my life, I’m not proud to be an American. I can only hope that our allies know that less that half of my fellow Americans support the current regime and he is shedding what support he has daily. Sad.
