Thank you for having me as your king
To the editor:
Dear Saranac Lake,
This year has been one of the best years of my life. I have been honored to represent this community as the youngest Winter Carnival King of all-time. I had so much fun, and I will never forget this experience.
First, I’d like to thank my mom. She has always believed in me and I love her so much. Thank you to my family: Kirk, Tate, Katie, Libby, Jess, Charlie, Savvy and Bella. You’ve always been there for me, no matter what.
Thank you to my house staff and my housemates for your support: Jake and Teri Styles for all your help; The Kiwanis Club and my Special Olympics Team for always having my back; a special thank you to former king Dan Reilly — you believed that I could be a king, and you showed me how it’s done; and a huge thank you to the Royal Family and the Women’s Civic Chamber for making this year so awesome and fun.
Most of all, I want to thank Queen Liz Murray. You have been there for me every step of the way. I wouldn’t be a great king without you.
Saranac Lake made me who I am today. I love this community with all my heart and Winter Carnival represents everything that makes us so special.
Thank you to everyone who’s given me a honk, a fist-bump, a compliment or even a hug when you’ve seen me around town.
Thank you, Saranac Lake, for having me as your king.
Happy Winter Carnival!
Ricky Sullivan
