Coverage

To the editor:

I am puzzled by the Adirondack Daily Enterprise’s decisions about what counts as newsworthy lately. Case in point: At the Saranac Lake Village Board meeting on Jan. 13, numerous members of the community spoke out about why the proposal to move the Saranac Lake Police and Fire Departments out of downtown to a former school on Petrova Ave was a bad idea, both financially and from a quality-of-life perspective. I found the meeting to be eye opening, yet there was zero coverage of it in the paper in the following days. However, there was room the next day for a front-page story on a loon rescue. Although I am totally in favor of animal rescues, I do wonder about what’s up with this newspaper’s decisions about what news merits coverage and what doesn’t.
