Thank you for the food pantry support
To the editor,
This year more than ever, the Saranac Lake Interfaith Food Pantry (SLIFP) has seen a rise in its number of clients. We were very fortunate to be able to keep up with the demand because of the generous support from our Saranac Lake community who donated time, food, money and service.
Many organizations, including churches, schools, scouts, postal carriers and grocery stores continue to be strong supporters of the SLIFP.
There are more than 35 volunteers from the community supporting our services and there are food collections from St. Bernard’s Church and the First Presbyterian Church.
Bitters and Bones sponsors the annual Turkey Trot and collects generous donations from our community and beyond. The Presbyterian Church has provided a great space and also provides seasonal produce and handmade winterwear. Grand Union supports our milk and fresh produce programs. We thank all of you.
Thank you also for contributors such as Chapel Island, Women’s Civic Chamber, the crop walk, Trudeau Institute, High Peaks Church and GoFish! Thrift Shop. We are also grateful to the Dorothy Metz estate which provides the money for supplies for family birthdays.
We welcome individuals, students and families needing our services to stop in to 57 Church St. behind the Presbyterian Church on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Food is also available on an emergency basis by calling 518-891-7325.
You all are a blessing and a treasured gift and we thank the many generous people whom we have named and those who we have not personally listed.
With much gratitude,
Carmen Ordoñez for the SLIFP board
