To the editor:

With nine days to go until Election Day, I am just shaking my head at the idea Donald Trump could be tied in the polls with Kamala Harris. How could this be?

Here is a candidate, Harris, who is highly qualified to be president. She was a DA, then attorney general of California, U.S. senator and vice president. She can opine on complex issues easily. She fought drug cartels and gangsters in California.

Donald Trump was born rich. His niece states he paid someone to take his college SATs. One of his professors at UPenn, Kelley by name, stated he was the “stupidest g**d**** student” he ever had but acted like he knew everything. His father paid a doctor to claim bone spurs to keep him out of Vietnam. Both he and his father refused to rent to Black people in their properties. Trump’s TV show pretending to be such a successful businessman was ludicrous. I worked in the corporate world for many years. He wouldn’t have lasted long in a corporation where you have to produce.

He has been convicted by a jury as a felon in New York and is out on bail. He was adjudicated a sexual abuser by a jury in New York. He owes millions in penalties for fraud in New York. His CFO was recently released from Rikers Prison. I have read that he owes the IRS millions for nonpayment of back taxes.

I am literally fearful for Ukraine if he ever returned to the White House, and indeed NATO. Our allies are fearful. Is it so difficult to tell he is amoral, unpatriotic? Unchristian? Selling Bibles made in China. Selling all kinds of crap. Who does that? I must say, he is probably the greatest conman we’ve ever seen.

Let’s talk about the economy. Some have poor memories about what a horse’s patoot he was last time. He did nothing — yes, nothing — to help the middle class. He submitted cuts to Social Security and Medicare every year he was in office. He got tax cuts passed for the 1%. Not you. Not me. Our country under the Biden-Harris administration has created over 15 million jobs. Chip factories were brought back, about 800,000 manufacturing jobs have been created, but 178,000 manufacturing jobs were lost under Trump (CNN, Sept. 25, 2024).

Immigration is the lowest it’s been in years, even under Trump. He has manufactured a big lie to use as a cudgel against the Democrats. He stopped legislation that would have given us more border guards and immigration judges to process the backlog which stems from even during his term. He’s just lying. He’s talking about “camps” to arrest and hold immigrants in.

His tariff ideas will ignorantly tank our economy.

Our inflation rate is the lowest in the world. The United States of America is the greatest country in the world. We are a beacon of freedom. Republicans and former Trump officials are warning us about him.

Please vote for freedom. Vote for Kamala and all Democrats who can support her presidency.
