‘Be civil with each other’
To the editor:
We are now less than a month away from the presidential election. At this time, many people have likely decided who they are supporting for president.
I am not writing this letter to try and persuade anyone on who would be best to lead our country.
The reason for this letter is to encourage all citizens to be civil with each other no matter who you decide to support.
The Republican Campaign office on Broadway has been the victim of vandalism on two occasions, and that should stop immediately. Workers in that office have been sent tasteless anonymous texts accusing them of being a threat to democracy.
How far have we strayed from the days of going out for a drink with both parties on election night and congratulating who ever wins.
I would consider a threat to democracy as attempting to intimidate anyone who has a different opinion than yours.
We’ve always been better than this. Let’s try and get back to the days where we respectfully disagree and vote as citizens of the same country.
