Melissa R. Kane Bond
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Melissa R. Kane Bond, a beloved mother, grandmother, fiancé, sister, aunt and dear friend, who left us on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the age of 52. Born on Jan. 13, 1973, in the picturesque town of Lake Placid, Melissa was a vibrant light in the lives of all who knew her.
Melissa was the cherished daughter of Wendy (Bickford) Bond and Albert Bond. She was preceded in death by her father Albert, whose love and guidance shaped her into the remarkable woman she became. Melissa’s legacy continues through her surviving family: her devoted fiancé Charles Call, her loving children Shaylee Kane and Keegun Kane, and her adoring grandchildren Landen and Londyn Talbott, as well as her mother Wendy (Bickford) Bond, siblings, nieces and nephews. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit within them.
For over 13 years, Melissa dedicated herself to nurturing and caring for others as a daycare worker. Her innate kindness, loyalty and compassion shone brightly in her work, leaving a lasting impact on the children she cared for and their families. She approached each day with a smile, embodying the essence of love and dedication.
Melissa had a deep passion for the outdoors, reveling in the natural beauty of the Adirondacks. Whether she was boating, camping or simply enjoying the fresh air, she found joy in the world around her. She cherished every moment spent with her family and loved ones, often accompanied by her beloved dog, Pluto. Her laughter and zest for life were infectious, drawing people to her warmth and kindness.
Above all, Melissa was a loving and devoted family member. She had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel valued and cherished. As a mother, she instilled in her children the importance of compassion and resilience, values they will carry with them throughout their lives. As a grandmother, she delighted in the joy her grandchildren brought to her life, showering them with love and affection.
Melissa’s funeral will be held at M. B. Clark, Inc., Funeral Home in her hometown of Lake Placid, a place she loved and where her spirit will forever remain. The date and time are still to be determined and will be announced in the coming week(s).
