James Luce

James “Jim, Papi” Luce, 69, formerly of Saranac Lake, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2025, after losing his battle with cancer. Born on Sept. 8, 1955, he was the son of Patricia Walker.
Jim was a 1974 graduate of Saranac Lake High School. Following graduation, he enlisted with the U.S. Army and served as a military police officer. After his tour of duty, he went on to a career working in the restaurant industry. He later retired to Florida to enjoy the east and west coast beaches, motorcycle rides and time with his family.
Jim had a smile that will always be remembered. He enjoyed vacations, spending time with family and friends and enjoying the views on the beach. He loved attending baseball games with his son Dylon and grandkids. Jim will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by his mom Patricia Walker and his wife Cherie Duso.
Survivors include his sons Dylon Luce, his wife Jeanie Luce and Bradley Luce, and his stepdaughter Caroline Carey Oesch. Jim is also survived by his grandkids that he loved endlessly: Cadence and Parker Luce (Dylon), Caleb Luce (Bradley), Jacob, Olivia, Noah and Elijah Carey Oesch (Caroline).
A celebration of life event will take place at a later date in the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid area.
