William H. McGreevy

William (Bill) Henry McGreevy, 89, of North Port Florida passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025. He was born in Springfield, Long Island, and was raised in Toms River, New Jersey.

After graduating from Toms River High School, he served in the United States Air Force for four years. Bill also attended and graduated from transmission technical school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Bill was an experienced mechanic and carpenter who owned and operated multiple successful businesses during his lifetime. He found immense joy in building and flying remote controlled airplanes throughout his entire life until his passing.

Bill was a devoted member of the RC Flyers of Venice, Florida as well as the Keene Valley Flyers of the Adirondacks. He was a dedicated member of the Wilmington Volunteer Fire and Rescue, joining the community service in 1977. He served over 20 years, many of those years serving as an officer and an EMT of which he was extremely proud.

Bill was predeceased by his parents Desmond Patrick McGreevy and Lillian M. (Wohrm) McGreevy, also his brother Patrick McGreevy. Surviving are his brother Robert (Sandy) McGreevy; his wife of 53 years Brenda Selah (Burdge) McGreevy; sons William R. (Paula) McGreevy, James (Paige) McGreevy, Kevin (Kelly) McGreevy; grandchildren Darren (Emily) McGreevy, Jenna (George) Langdon, James (Krista) McGreevy, Meghan (Brandon) Chambliss, Madeline, Lillian, Maeve and Evelyn McGreevy; and great grandchildren, Wyatt, Weston, Charlotte (Charlie), John Francis, Nash Scott and Marguerite (Maggie). He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be missed by many.
