David (Dave) Perry

David (Dave) Perry, age 90, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025. He lived on Upper Saranac Lake and in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. He was born in Coeymans, New York to Albert and Regina Perry.
Dave served in the Army for two years, was a soils engineer for New York State Department of Transportation and managed information systems in three different departments for New York state, retiring in 1990. He taught computer science at several colleges in the Albany area, was self-employed as a consultant for information systems, taught boating safety for 20 years at the lake and volunteered at the Wild Center introducing owls and various animals to the visitors. Dave primarily spent his years in retirement living at his favorite place in the world on Upper Saranac Lake, serving his community and spending time with his family.
Important to Dave were his family, singing, sports, animals and everything involving the lake. Dave will be remembered for his sincere caring for family and friends, his wonderful sense of humor and his many varied contributions to all of the above.
Preceded in death by his children Laura and Jennifer Grierson, and his sister Dorothy Newell, he is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lynne; children Noel (Robert) Bash and Douglas Grierson; grandchildren Emily and Austin (Elle) Bash and John, Brian and Katie Grierson; and five niece and nephews and their children.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 5 at noon at Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church, 1 East Oak Street, Basking Ridge, NJ. A reception in the church fellowship hall will follow. The service will be available via livestream as well.
Burial will be in Coeymans at a later date.
