Colleen Gowan

Colleen, born in Saranac Lake on Sept. 13, 1967, was preceded in death by her parents, Richard (Dick) Gowan and Jane Gowan (beloved teacher at Saranac Lake High School), and stepfather, Frank Miller.

She is survived by her sister Teresa Gowan, aunts and an uncle, numerous cousins, friends and her extended Bahai Faith family.

Colleen was a 1985 graduate of Saranac Lake High School and later received her BA in pre-law and legal studies from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She completed an internship at Ayuda Consumer Aid Legal Protection in Washington, D.C. and participated in a study abroad program at the University of Seville, Spain, while working towards her degree. After graduating, she embarked on a career as a global professional, working with HR departments and teaching English for companies such as Datamatix Group and National Petroleum Construction Company. This career journey brought her to: Seoul, South Korea; Abu Dabi, UAE; Seville, Spain; Sao Palo, Brazil; and Shizuoka, Japan, to mention just a few. Colleen loved her pets, friends, family, cooking, music, campfires, traveling and the Bahai Faith.

Calling hours will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 29 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at noon. Burial will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
