Octavia Gage

Octavia Jane (Baldwin) Gage, daughter of Reverend William Gage and Helen (Holbrook) Gage, born July 31, 1926, passed away on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025 at the age of 98.

Jane was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Wallace Baldwin; her son, Steven; two brothers, Richard and Lynn; and two sisters, Beatrice and Penny.

She is survived by two daughters, Christine (Baldwin) Daniel of Plattsburgh and Donna (Baldwin) Arnold of Peru. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jane was a volunteer in the Army Nurse Cadet Corp during WWII. In 1946, she moved to Saranac Lake from her home in Green Island, New York and cared for tuberculosis patients. Jane had several family restaurants over the years and also managed Nelson House, an Episcopal Assisted Living Facility in Albany, before returning to live in Ray Brook where she owned and operated Gage Loj. After her retirement, she spent time in Saranac Lake, Florida and Plattsburgh.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene, 124 Hill Street, Keeseville, NY 12944.
