Robert T. ‘Tony’ Barnes

He was born on Nov. 2, 1954, in Goldsboro, North Carolina, to the late James Thomas Barnes and Nora Rains Kirkman.

Tony loved the Rocky Mountains and spent his 20s skiing and fishing in Idaho before eventually settling in Upstate New York. There, he devoted himself to the Saranac Lake Golf Club, where he served as superintendent for 36 years.

In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Anne Barnes Lawing. He is survived by his loving son, Thomas C. Barnes; sisters Donna Sanders and Vickie Schlichting; nieces Beth Coffman, Kristian Schlichting, Emily Sanders and Lauren Sanders; nephews David Sanders, James Sanders, and Nicholas Coffman; and his best friend, Jacob Giddings.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
