Donald J. Stewart

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donald J. Stewart, who left us peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024.

Donald was born on Sept. 21, 1950. He was the beloved husband of Debra Stewart for 50 years, a devoted father to sons Donald, Erich and Patrick Stewart, and a loving grandfather to his cherished grandchildren. He now joins his daughter, Bridget Stewart, in eternal peace.

Donald was a proud retiree of the New York State Police, where he concluded his career as a quartermaster. After retiring, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of moving the family to Lake Placid, where he embraced his love of the outdoors. An avid fisherman and outdoorsman, Donald found joy and tranquility in nature, especially on the waters of the Adirondacks.

Donald was deeply involved in his children’s lives, always present at their sporting events and other school activities. His commitment to supporting his children was unwavering, whether on the sidelines or in the audience, cheering them on every step of the way. His dedication to his family extended into the community as well, where he worked for many years at St. Agnes School, fostering connections with students, staff and the wider community.

Donald will be remembered for his steadfast love of family, his passion for the outdoors and his unwavering support for those he cared about. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Stewart; sons Donald, Erich and Patrick Stewart; his grandchildren; and numerous family members and friends. His legacy of love, dedication and strength will remain forever cherished.
