William ‘Bill’ P. Elliott

William “Bill” P. Elliott, 71, of Lake Placid, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2024 at CVPH, overlooking Lake Champlain and the mountains.

Born on Feb. 8, 1953, he was the son to the late Carole (Perry) Elliott and Melvin Elliott. He was a familiar face around the village of Lake Placid.

Bill was a member and a leader within the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years. He also served as a member with New York state fire police and various committees within LPVF. He managed the National Army Store in his younger years, continued his work as a private caretaker, and lastly worked for the town of North Elba. He always appreciated the natural beauty of the Adirondacks, with a passion for hunting, fishing, cooking and long car rides taking in all the scenery.

He is survived by his two daughters, Kristen Elliott and Jessica (Elliott) and Keith Wilkins; grandson (Mikah) Wilkins; a brother, Timothy Elliott; longtime special friend Karen Fountain of Lake Placid; friend and the mother of his daughters, Kathy Elliott; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill is predeceased by his brother Tracy J. Elliott and sister, Tamela K. (Elliott) Darrah. The family would like to thank the various medical teams that provided him care and comfort over the last several months.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, July 13 at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Lake Placid. Rev. John Yonkovig will officiate. A reception to follow at the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 560, Lake Placid, NY 12946, the place he always enjoyed his morning coffee with fellow members.
