Bruce R. Ohmann

Bruce Robert Ohmann, 70, of Jay, a lifelong resident of the Adirondacks, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

Born on July 5, 1953, in Saranac Lake, he was the son of Robert and Mary (Aubin) Ohmann.

Bruce spent most of his life surrounded by the beauty of the Adirondacks. He was a man with a big heart and was deeply devoted to his children, three cherished granddaughters and two grandsons.

Bruce was a true outdoorsman, finding joy in camping, fishing, hunting, skiing and golf. He created countless memories with his children during their camping trips on Lower Saranac Lake, where they shared many adventures and laughter.

For over 40 years, Bruce worked as a professional electrician, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and clients. He passed away too soon, leaving behind many ambitions and plans for the future.

Bruce’s spirit and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by one daughter, Kerry Schnell of West Chazy; one son, Brian (Jessica) Ohmann of Fort Huachuca, Arizona; one brother, Kyle (Laurie) Ohmann of Hickory, North Carolina; and one sister, Shelia (Kenneth) Casler of Saranac Lake.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father and one son, Brad Ohmann in 2019.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday July 5 with the Rev. Thomas Higman officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
