Lake Flower Avenue boil water order lifted
SARANAC LAKE — The partial boil water order for Lake Flower Avenue residents, issued after a large water main burst on Sunday afternoon, has been lifted.
The water main break flooded Lake Flower Avenue extensively on Sunday, closing the road and cutting off water to the homes and businesses in that area of town.
“The boil water order is no longer necessary based on repairs to the distribution system, satisfactory system pressures, satisfactory chlorine residuals and satisfactory bacteriological sample results,” according to a message sent through the village’s Nixle alert program on Tuesday afternoon.
The areas asked to boil water had been Lake Flower Avenue from Fogarty’s Lake Flower Marina to Turtle Pond Road including Tamer Way, Center Street, Merrill Street, Santanoni Avenue, South Street, Colony Court, Meadow Lane, Crossfield Road, Duprey Street, Tara Drive, Poplar Lane, Edward Street, Cortez Lane, Lakeview Terrace, Will Rogers Drive and Turtle Pond Road.
Village Department of Public Works Superintendent Dustin Martin said DPW crews worked throughout Sunday to shut off the water supply, drain the excess water and begin repairing the pipe.
Even though Lake Flower Avenue is part of a state highway, Martin said the village was responsible for the underlying water pipe infrastructure and its repairs.
