Next Will Rogers Road to Retirement Series is Jan. 23

SARANAC LAKE — On Thursday, Jan, 23 at 2 p.m., Saranac Village at Will Rogers will present a Road to Retirement program based on Skip Murray and Caperton Tissot’s book: “Saranac Lake, an Adirondack Portrait.” The slide show is free and open to the public. The authors will talk about how they put the book together as well as read from some of the text. A book signing will follow the talk.

Caperton Tissot’s writing life began in her retirement. It was preceded by years of work in healthcare, pottery and environmental advocacy. Her work reflects an abiding interest in small communities and natural history. Published books include history, fiction, poetry, memoir and a children’s book. She and her husband live in the Adirondacks in upstate New York where Tissot enjoys balancing an outdoor life with an indoor writing vocation. Skip Murray began seriously carrying a camera about 30 years ago. It has been with him every day since. As I he likes to say, “l always have my camera with me, just in case.” Skip takes pictures of whatever catches his eye, whether it is the side of a mountain, a waterway, a flower, a person, whatever it is. “Life is an adventure, and luckily sometimes I am able to capture a piece of it.”

The Road to Retirement Series features programs related to discovering the path others have taken to retirement, serves to further educate and engage communities and teaches about the opportunities, services and resources that can help people retire successfully and happily. Immediately following the presentation there will be a book signing and refreshments will be served. Skip and Caper dedicated this book to Thomasina Gallager, a resident at Saranac Village at Will Rogers. For more information call 518-891-7117.

Starting at $4.75/week.
