New STR software platform and complaint system launched

LAKE PLACID — The Town of North Elba and Village of Lake Placid have launched a new software platform designed to assist short-term rental owners and enhance community communication.

Alongside this platform, a new complaint system has been introduced to effectively address community concerns in real-time.

The newly implemented STR software platform provides streamlined services for STR property owners, including easy management of compliance documentation and improved accessibility to permits and property information.

This platform aims to ensure transparency and efficiency in the STR process while equipping owners with the necessary tools to meet local requirements.

To better address community concerns, the town and village have introduced a dedicated local complaint hotline and an online reporting system. It is helpful to know the street address of the property you are complaining about. The new complaint hotline can be reached at 518-523-9214.

Calls are answered locally during standard business hours. After-hours complaints will be addressed the next business day. During weekends and peak vacation/event times, calls will be answered 24/7 to ensure timely responses.

Complaints can also be submitted online at any time via the “Welcome to Town of North Elba” website, ensuring convenient and accessible reporting for residents and visitors.

The town and village website now includes a comprehensive list of emergency contacts for all STR properties. The list provides a 24-hour emergency contact name and phone number for each property, accessible at tinyurl.com/ycxdwjeu.

Renewal information for current STR owners

Every current STR owner must know their renewal date. Owners will be required to create a new user account in Cloudpermit and complete a renewal application when their renewal date approaches.

There is no need to re-upload documents during the renewal process. After completing the renewal, the system will send reminders 30-60 days before future renewal dates.

Current owners should only register on the new site when their renewal date is approaching. Registering early will create a new and incorrect renewal date, and premature registrations will be rejected.

If desired, owners may create a user account in advance, but refrain from registering until their renewal date.

These initiatives reflect the Town and Village’s commitment to fostering a harmonious relationship between STR owners and the community. The updated systems aim to promptly address concerns while ensuring STR operations meet local standards and expectations.

Starting at $4.75/week.
