Saranac Laker to speak about work as stuntperson
SARANAC LAKE — Leslie Hoffman, a Saranac Laker who worked as a stuntperson in movies and television, will speak at the Saranac Village at Will Rogers as part of its Road to Retirement series.
Hoffman’s talk, titled “My Life as a Stuntperson,” is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19.
Hoffman was born in Saranac Lake but always dreamed of going to Los Angeles to be in the film Industry. Eventually, her wish came true and Hoffman was in about 100 movies and TV shows.
During her talk, Hoffman will be showing clips from various films and television shows she performed in such as “Nightmare on Elm Street,” “The Naked Gun,” “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “Star Trek: Voyager,” “Scream 2,” “The Love Boat” and more.
Hoffman will also have two of her set-worn costumes from “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” and “Star Trek: Voyager,” as well as a reproduction of the sweater and glove that she wore in “A Nightmare on Elm Street.”
Hoffman was the first stuntwoman elected to the Screen Actors Guild Board of Directors as well the first stuntperson ever elected to AFTRA Local and National Board. In 2022, the Saranac Lake Walk of Fame honored her with a plaque that can be seen on the Hotel Saranac building. She is also the Saranac Village at Will Rogers’ historian.
