Olympic Museum benefit is Feb. 17
LAKE PLACID — A benefit for the Olympic museum, “See You in Paris,” is slated for Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024.
This January, the world is celebrating the centennial of the first Winter Olympic Games in Chamonix, France, in 1924. Lake Placid native Charles Jewtraw received the first-ever Winter Olympic gold medal by winning the 500m speed skating race during these Games. In July 2024, France will be celebrating the centennial of the Paris 1924 Summer Olympics and hosting the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
One hundred years later, inspired by these events, the Olympic Museum is hosting a museum benefit.
The wine and chocolate benefit at the Lake Placid Olympic Museum will begin at 5:30 p.m. featuring Adirondack Chocolates paired with wines from local vendors: Adirondack Winery, Winebow and Terry Robards Wines and Spirits. All pairings will be curated by the sommelier Justin Wachowski, a luger, certified sommelier, and Men’s Health Magazine published mixologist.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, proceeds benefit the LPOM’s mission, educational programs and exhibits.
Tickets for the event are $60 each and can be purchased by calling the box office at 518-523-3330 or online at http://tinyurl.com/ydmswz5r. When purchasing tickets, select a time for a wine tasting and arrive at least five minutes prior. This event is for ages 21 and up. Organizers ask that attendees bring a valid ID to their tasting.
