Scott McKim stayed up until 2:30 Friday morning for good reason. He was able to snap some photos of the northern lights from his front porch in Gabriels. A “moderate solar storm” had been predicted for days, but McKim said cloudy and wet conditions threatened his ability to see them. “Surprisingly, skies cleared out pretty quickly last night and by 2 a.m. we had pretty clear skies that afforded a good showing to the north,” he wrote.
