White Pine Camp tours return June 21

PAUL SMITHS — White Pine Camp, the historic Adirondack Great Camp that was the 1926 Calvin Coolidge Summer White House, will again host historic walking tours this summer.

The tours, scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays, will continue from June 21 through Sept. 27.

Designed by renowned architects William Masserine and Addison Mizner, White Pine Camp is unique among the Great Camps for its pre-modern yet rustic style.

Tours include the history of the Great Camps and colorful stories about the owners, celebrities and dignitaries who stayed at White Pine Camp during its hay day of the gilded age.

Several buildings will be entered including the Bowling Alley, Japanese Teahouse, two boathouses, the Great Room and Tennis House.

Tours are approximately one hour and 45 minutes, and start at the White Pine Camp gate at the end of White Pine Road off state Route 86 in Paul Smiths.

The cost is $12 per adult and $6 for children under 12, cash.

Reservations are not necessary. Tours run rain or shine. No pets allowed on tours.
