Tri-Lakes host Halloween events

SARANAC LAKE — A host of spooky and sweet Halloween activities are scheduled in and around the Tri-Lakes region over the next several days and on Halloween itself, which is creeping up on Monday, Oct. 31.

Saranac Lake

The Waterhole in Saranac Lake is throwing its annual Halloween Bash on Saturday, featuring Muddy Ruckus and Chestnut Grove. People must be 21 years old or above to attend the show. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the show starts at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available online at saranaclakewaterhole.com, or they’ll be available in person at the downstairs bar.

The Saranac Lake Downtown Trick-or-Treat will return on Monday, from 3 to 5 p.m. Participating businesses in Saranac Lake’s downtown district — located along Broadway and Main streets — will display signs that they’re welcoming trick-or-treaters.

Also from 3 to 5 p.m. on Halloween, the Adirondack Carousel on Depot Street in Saranac Lake is throwing a Halloween Bash. There will be free apple cider and doughnuts and free carousel rides and candy for trick-or-treaters.

The Adirondack Daily Enterprise is hosting a costume contest on Monday for children from 1 month to 12 years old. Parents can bring their children by the Enterprise office at 54 Broadway in Saranac Lake from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. They can sign up to have their kids’ photo taken for the newspaper and the costume contest. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.

Lake Placid

The Lake Placid Central School District has a few Halloween-themed festivities planned.

The Lake Placid Middle-High School will be haunted on Friday for the Haunted School event, with a kids’ trick-or-treating and meet-the-actors hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. before general admission from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Admission for the kids’ hour is $4 (age 10 and under), and general admission is $6 for LPMHS students and $8 for adults. People can enter the haunted school via the ramp at the school.

The Lake Placid Halloween Parade on Monday starts at noon at Brewster Park. The parade runs along Main Street to the Olympic Speedskating Oval, where Lake Placid Elementary School students will parade around the oval in front of the middle-high school.

Lake Placid’s Downtown Trick-or-Treat program will begin after the parade and run until 5 p.m. at Main Street businesses.

Tupper Lake, Paul Smiths

Paul Smith’s College’s Draft Horse Club is hosting its first Fall Festival and fundraiser at the college’s great lawn from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. There will be horse-drawn wagon rides, photo and feeding opportunities with the draft horses, a hay bale toss, pumpkin carving, raffles and more.

P-2’s Irish Pub is hosting a “Spookie-Ookie” costume contest with prizes and karaoke on Saturday. The pub is at 31 Main St. in Tupper Lake.

Wilmington

There will be a free “trunk or treat” event in Wilmington from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at KOA’s 100 Acres Woods on state Route 86. For more information, contact event organizer Tina Terry Preston at 518-637-7900.

AuSable Forks

On Friday, a free outdoor movie night will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Town of Black Brook River Park in AuSable Forks. People are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes. There will be a campfire with s’mores, popcorn and beverages.

On Saturday, there will be a free Halloween party at the Town of Black Brook River Park in AuSable Forks from noon to 3 p.m. Activities include a costume parade with prizes, pumpkin decorating, and apple cider, doughnuts will be available.

On Sunday, there will be a free “trunk or treat” event from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Town of Black Brook River Park in AuSable Forks.

The town of Jay is transforming its Community Center gym on School Lane, AuSable Forks, into a haunted house on Monday. AuSable Forks Elementary School students are visiting the haunted house throughout Halloween day, and the general public can walk through the scary scene from 4 to 7 p.m.

Also on Halloween night, the Heidrick-Zaumetzer Funeral Home in AuSable Forks is hosting a “Beetlejuice Experience” at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The free event will start at the main entrance of the funeral home, located at 3 College St., where people will start at the main entrance, wind through the building, exit through the chapel doors and follow a path to a tent at the Graves Mansion, where treats will be handed out. The funeral home will also host daylight trick-or-treating from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. that day.
