A scheduled power outage in Lake Placid was expected to leave the village in the dark from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. today. The Palace Theatre’s marquee, seen here Tuesday, advertised the outage to passersby. Some local businesses, like the Lake Placid Pub and Brewery, were planning to host blackout-themed business nights rather than close their doors early on Tuesday. Construction has been underway since July to replace infrastructure on a 45-mile radial transmission line serving the village. This utility upgrade — which will cost approximately $8 million, according to the village — aims to increase reliability and create a more resilient utility line. The power outage was a necessary part of the project, according to the village. (Enterprise photo — Lauren Yates)
