Hart said the piece he was playing was written after he held his newborn son, who had been woken up by the sound of fireworks one night. He thought about parents holding their children at night surrounded by the sounds of explosions — imminent danger, and not a minor annoyance. The piece surrounded listeners in an intense soundscape.
