TUPPER LAKE - John F. LaMora, 45, of Tupper Lake, died unexpectedly Friday, May 30, 2014, at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh.
Born May 2, 1969 in Saranac Lake, he was the son of Michel Sr. and Julia (Wheeler) LaMora. John graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1989. In 2005, he graduated from the New York State Corrections Academy. He had been employed at Clinton County Correctional Facility in Dannemora.
In 2008, he married the former Rene Godin of Tupper Lake.
John was a past member of the Tupper Lake Fire Volunteer Department and the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad. He currently served as a board member of the Woodsmen of the World and was a member of the Tupper Lake Rod and Gun Club. John was a car enthusiast specifically Mustangs and belonged to the Mustang Club of Massena.
He is survived by his wife Rene; two daughters: Julia-Anne LaMora of Lake Placid and Savannah Cramer of Tupper Lake; one son Gavin Woods of Saranac Lake; two grandchildren: Emma-Mae and Brandon; his parents; and one brother Michel II of Saranac Lake.
Calling hours are scheduled from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 4 at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 5 at Holy Name Church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
