SLHS chorus, band perform at festival

May 28, 2014
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

On Feb. 27, Saranac Lake High School played host to the Essex County School Music Association's All-County Honors Music Festival. The festival honors the most accomplished musicians in schools throughout Essex and southern Franklin counties including all Tri-Lakes schools and as far south as Ticonderoga. Students are selected through participation in the Area All-State Festival held last Fall or through teacher recommendation to participate in the Women's Chorus, Mixed Chorus, Concert Band, or Jazz Ensemble. Students receive and rehearse the music on their own ahead of time and then convene in Saranac Lake for a day of rehearsals and an evening concert. Conductors for the ensembles are local music teachers with one ensemble being conducted by an outside professional, determined on a rotating basis.
