To the editor:
The town of St. Armand recently received a grant from the Lake Champlain Basin Program for an interpretive exhibit. This exhibit is entitled "Patriots of St. Armand," and we will be placing it at Veterans Memorial Park in the center of Bloomingdale.
Currently, Veterans Memorial Park houses an stone monument and a flagpole with an American flag and a POW flag. We are determined to create a space for the exhibit that will offer folks a place to enjoy a park-like setting, including a gazebo, park benches, space for this interpretive exhibit and space for games and picnics. We would like to have the park represent our pride in our veterans, the Adirondacks and our town.
We are asking for volunteers to assist us in this project. The construction date is June 7 at 9 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park. Lunch will be served, with thanks to Norman's Store, the Bloomin' Market and Gail Bombard.
Several area businesses and residents have committed to donate materials and labor. We would like to thank Ollie Burgess and the crew of Specialty Wood Products, Bob Bayruns and the crew at Coakley High Peaks Ace Hardware, Dave Nester and the crew of Curtis Lumber, and Jackie and Wes Moody and the crew at Moody Tree Farms. We look forward to working with Josh Woodruff, Judge Sheridan Swinyer, Keith Bordeau, Jeff Cotter, Robert Drosdowich, Roger Oliver, David Filsinger and other folks who have committed to working on this project.
Please contact me if you would like to help out on our work day. Thank you.
