SARANAC LAKE - The Lake Placid softball team had its way with Saranac Lake on Wednesday, cruising to two convincing victories in a doubleheader.
The Blue Bombers won the first game 23-5 and the second 20-2.
Lake Placid scored four runs in the fourth inning and six in the fifth to take control of the first game. Payton Barney had two doubles, while teammates Gillian McLean and Taylor Maiorca each had one double.
Carissa Kennedy was credited with the win from the pitcher's circle. The junior struck out eight and walked five over seven innings of work.
The Blue Bombers outhit Saranac Lake 12-5. Lake Placid had no errors in the field, while the Red Storm had six.
Lake Placid didn't let up in the second game, scoring 18 runs over the first five innings. Hanna Potter was able to lock up the pitching victory, giving up just three hits in the complete-game effort.
Adele Jesmer had two singles and Liz Bimonte and and McLean each had a double.
Saranac Lake senior Brittany Woodruff accounted for two of Saranac Lake's hits in the second game.
Lake Placid improved to 6-2 with the doubleheader sweep.

CHATEAUGAY - The Tupper Lake softball team ran into a hot-hitting Chateaugay team Wednesday, dropping both games of a doubleheader on the road.
Chateaugay won the first game 8-1 and took the nightcap 14-0.
Brooke Dewyea had three hits in the first game for the Lumberjacks. Malorie McLear shouldered the pitching duties and gave up just four walks in the loss.
Winning pitcher Rachael Young, a freshman, helped her own cause with a solo home run in the fourth inning for the Bulldogs.
Nook Ngoendee, a foreign exchange student at Tupper Lake, reached base twice in her first-ever start in the game of softball.
In the second game, Sarah McGowan made her varsity debut as a starting pitcher, striking out three and walking two over seven innings of work.
Alicia Cook had three hits and four RBI to lead Chateaugay offensively.

LAKE PLACID - The Saranac boys and girls tennis teams swept all the singles matches Wednesday on the way to 4-1 victories over Lake Placid.
The Blue Bombers' lone win came at first doubles of the boys' match as eighth-grader Sawyer Chase and junior Ray Zhang won 6-4, 6-4.
Lake Placid was also credited with a win at second doubles on the girls' side by forfeit.
The only three-set matches of the day came in the boys' match at No. 2 and 3 singles. Aaron Cross beat Lake Placid senior David Knapik 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 at second singles and Patrick Paquin downed Nik Kobe 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 in the third spot.
Kayla Napper and Dylan Christopherson were winners at first singles. Napper beat Victoria O'Leary 6-3, 6-0 and Christopherson downed Georgia O'Leary 6-0, 6-1.
