Micheels draws inspiration from Nevada trip for new exhibit

May 5, 2014
Adirondack Daily Enterprise
Artist Cat Micheels, left, tells her daughter, Kelly, about her trip to Nevada which inspired most of the work she has on display in her new exhibit at the NorthWind Fine Arts gallery in Saranac Lake. Micheels said her work has always been inspired by Adirondack landscapes, but she found a new sense of inspiration out West. “I was just overwhelmed by what I saw,” Micheels said. “The Adirondacks are beautiful, so I have lots of inspiration here, but the desert was a spiritual experience. The look, the smell; all of your senses are alive.” Micheels’ show, which includes desert-inspired oil and acrylic paintings, as well as repurposed furniture painted with Adirondack scenes, is on display through the end of May.
