Norma R. Rock, 58, of 878 state Route 86, Gabriels, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt.

Born in Saranac Lake on Feb. 28, 1955, she was the daughter of Herbert Rock, Jr. and Dorothy (Darrah) Oliver.

Norma had been employed as a Cashier by the Hyde Fuel Company for more than 20 years until her retirement in 2014. Prior to that she had worked at various area businesses including the Hotel Saranac, The Ledge Rock and Santa's Workshop in Wilmington. Norma enjoyed collecting Clown dolls, crossword puzzles and she especially loved her dogs

She is survived by her step-father Robert Oliver of Gabriels; three sisters: Debbie Moody of Keene, Elaine Urbanowicz of Watervliet and Jane Shanty and her husband Bruce of Saranac Lake; five brothers: Herb Rock and his wife Margaret of Wilmington, Pete Rock of Saranac Lake, Alan Rock of Gabriels, Tim Rock and his wife Mary Ellen of Gabriels and Murray Oliver and his wife Heather of Paul Smiths; one step-brother Ronald Oliver of Canada; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, one brother-in-law Paul Moody and one stepsister Lisa Oliver.

Combined calling hours and memorial services will take place for both Norma and her mother Dorothy Oliver, who died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014. Calling hours will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Joanne White officiating. Burial will take place in Mountain View Cemetery in Gabriels in May.
