To the editor:
The Saranac Lake Area Youth Program board would like to publicly extend our appreciation to the towns of Brighton, Harrietstown and North Elba, the village of Saranac Lake and the Saranac Lake Central School District for their contributions and continued support in the operation of the Saranac Lake Area Youth Program.
The Board of Directors is proud of providing positive alternatives to local youth for the past 14 summers. The town boards, village board and the school district are committed to putting our students first and politics aside. We thank them for this. Each one of these agencies is to be acknowledged for their continued support to this unique program.
The Saranac Lake Area Youth Program has provided quality programs and services for a minimal fee or no cost to local families. The Board of Directors has been fortunate and able to add programs in these tough economic times. Hours of operation have been increased, free breakfast and lunch have been made available which meet federal nutritional guidelines, swimming lessons are offered, and field trips occur throughout the summer. Thank you to the town boards, village, school district and the many local community members who continue to contribute to our sponsor a child program. The Board of Directors acknowledges our local youth as our most valuable resource.
The village of Saranac Lake is truly the lead agency for this program. It provides insurance, the use of the local beach and oversees the payroll. Thank you to Paul Ellis for his time and dedication to the budget. Paul graciously balances our budget and provides assistance in bringing new revenue to the program.
Please know we appreciate the towns of Brighton, Harrietstown and North Elba, the village of Saranac Lake and the Saranac Lake Central School District for their long-standing dedication to the Saranac Lake Area Youth program.
