More bone-chilling weather for upstate New York

January 24, 2014
Associated Press

LOWVILLE (AP) - Another bone-chilling day for the Tug Hill Plateau region east of Lake Ontario in central New York.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind-chill warning until noon today for the snowiest region east of the Rocky Mountains. Temperatures will be in the single digits, and wind gusts up to 35 miles an hour will make it feel as low as 30 below zero.

Actually, that might feel like a heat wave for the folks in nearby Watertown. On Wednesday, the temperature there bottomed out at 37 degrees below zero. That made the city, located about 70 miles north of Syracuse, the coldest place in the lower 48 states
