Guessing why McKay chose Saranac Lake

January 21, 2014
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

To the editor:

Saranac Lake ranks sixth among those places with the "most days with coldest temperature" in the U.S. (Source: www.currentresults.com) Of the previous five, the closest to New York City is Alamosa, Colo. If you flew from Australia to NYC and had done some research, you would know that Saranac Lake is the closest place to go if you wanted to freeze yourself to death. It is summer now in Australia and a very hot one. Paul McKay's reasons for doing what he did will probably never be known. But why he came to Saranac Lake to do it - seems perfectly logical. May he rest in peace.
