To the editor:
Members of the Saranac Lake Adult Center wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the management and staff of Kinney Drugs in Saranac Lake. In November, their pharmacists provided a most helpful flu clinic for seniors in our center. In December, the staff and patrons of Kinney generously donated gently used warm winter wear and very thoughtful Secret Santa gifts. If it takes a village to raise a child, perhaps it takes a community-minded enterprise, like Kinney, to support an elder.
We, the members of the Saranac Lake Adult Center, wish to thank several businesses and individuals for their ongoing and recent contributions. On a weekly basis, both Hannaford and Price Chopper generously donate delicious breads and pastries. Many seniors have come to rely on this bounty for their daily bread. We at the center also appreciate the time and energy Diane Roberts and Shirley Hosler expend to regularly pick up and deliver these goodies to us. In November, Price Chopper, as well as Nonna Fina, Tangles Salon, Central Garage, Hyde Fuel and Kinney contributed gift certificates as most desirable door prizes for our Food and Craft Bazaar. For our Breakfast with Santa, Price Chopper donated money to help feed the families who came in to the center.
Also during the holidays, the following gifts were spread far and wide to our senior members: bags of candy provided by Bloomingdale Elementary School, delicious baked goods prepared by our local Catholic Daughters and adorable holiday cards created by students at St. Bernard's. Finally, an anonymous donor left numerous grab bags filled with treats. Now, how truly sweet is all of that?
