CHATEAUGAY (AP) - State police are investigating a head-on collision in northern New York involving two SUV's that killed the driver of each vehicle.

The accident happened around 8 p.m. Monday on Route 11 in the town of Chateaugay. Lloyd Taylor, 49, of Clifton Park, was traveling eastbound in a 2013 Nissan Frontier, and a 2005 GMC Jimmy operated by 43-year-old Demetrios Syrros of Prescott, Ontario, was westbound when both vehicles hit head-on. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

State police shut down a portion of the two-lane highway for a few hours to investigate.

Autopsies were scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at Alice Hyde Memorial Hospital in Malone.
