To the editor:
I would like to ask a simple question: What is wrong with Tupper Lake that no one, like Gov. Andrew Cuomo and visitors from other places, comes to visit us?
Why is it that we give to charities and give money to different things and yet we are ignored all the time? We need jobs, but no one wants to help. We want Big Tupper open, but no one wants to help. We want the railway open, but no one wants to help.
I remember when I was a kid back in the '50s, when I came here for the summer and winter, I would not be able to move around because of so many people bumping into each other. Tupper was buzzing then.
The ski lift was open year round; now it's not. There were stores open; now there are hardly any open. The beaches would be crammed, and there would be campers all over; now they hardly know us.
Why can't we be helped? Why can't we be noticed for what good we do for others, yet we don't get anything in return? Why?
People go to your Saranac and your Placid, and ignore Tupper. I wonder if that was reversed, what would you say? We need HELP! Please stop ignoring us! We are literally being pushed off the map. We have a right to live, too. We pay our TAXES just like everyone else.
How about telling your Gov. Cuomo, who ignores us, to help. Please, please, please, please don't take this letter to be offensive; it's just that we are sick and tired of being on the back burner all of the time, and no one wants to help us. Try living here with nothing, and find out. Thank you for your patience.
P.S.: Happy new year!
