SARANAC - Dorothy T. White, 93, of Route 3, died Tuesday Dec. 31, 2013, at CVPH Medical Center.
She was born in Lyon Mountain on Jan. 16, 1920, the daughter of Rev. Frank and Florence (Vale) Tarling.
Dorothy was a graduate of Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Troy. She worked as the night supervisor at Samaritan Hospital and later for CVPH Medical Center. Dorothy married "the best man in the world," Raymond White, on June 14, 1947. Dorothy and Raymond owned and operated White's Feed Store for 35 years in Saranac. She held many offices at the Saranac United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include three sons: Ken White of Saranac, Keith White of Saranac Lake and Mark White of Saranac; grandchildren and partners: Corinne and Dan Murphy of Newport News, Va., Ashley White and Sherry Ross of Spartanburg, S.C., Gabriel White and Lexi Deming of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Katherine White and Tyler Russell of Paso Robles Calif.; a great-grandchild, Kingston Russell; two nieces; a sister-in-law and other extended family.
She was predeceased by her husband Raymond and a brother, Frank Tarling.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday Jan. 3, at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday Jan. 4, at the Saranac United Methodist Church.
Donations may be made to the Saranac United Methodist Church Renovation Fund, of which Dorothy was treasurer for many years.
